Objective: Cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) diversion methods, including ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunts, are the standard treatment for hydrocephalus. Hair clipping (HC) has been a routine neurosurgical practice of the great majority of neurosurgeons, due to the perception that this will either decrease the risk of shunt infection or allow for a faster, unimpeded opening and closing of the skin. The benefits of not cutting or clipping hair in terms of normalizing appearance and self-esteem are obvious.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers analyzed SIRS criteria over 21 days in 80 patients who received cisternal lavage compared to matched controls, finding a lower prevalence of SIRS in the treatment group.
  • * Results showed significant differences in leukocyte count, heart rate, and respiratory rate between the two groups, indicating that intracranial blood clearance can help reduce SIRS after aneurysmal SAH.

Article Synopsis
  • * Three independent raters analyzed subjects' foot movements over multiple days while employing a four-segment foot model and performed statistical analysis to evaluate variability and differences by foot type during the stance phase of gait.
  • * Findings indicated that while static measures showed significant differences among foot types, the MFM's ability to detect dynamic differences was limited, particularly with respect to certain movements like the hallux to forefoot range of motion; thus, its sensitivity for identifying variations between pathologic and non-pathologic foot

We describe the case of a 73-year-old man with a low-grade well-differentiated angiosarcoma. Our case distinguishes itself from those previously reported in the slow progression and important delay to the presentation of 30 months and survival time of 5.
