Antitumor cellular immunity (CD19, CD3, CD4 and CD8 T lymphocytes and natural killer cells) of 195 patients (49 in the pleuran group and 146 in the control group) was measured by flow cytometry. We observed a significant increase in the absolute number of CD3, CD19, CD4 and CD8 T lymphocytes in the pleuran group compared with the control group.

Background: The objective of this study was to investigate serum levels of immunosuppressive cytokines TGF beta 1 and VEGF and count of immune cells in peripheral blood in stage II and III colorectal cancer patients.
Methods: Blood samples were collected from 22 colorectal patients and 25 healthy controls before the start of treatment. All patients were examined by a clinical immunologist to exclude patients with immune disorders and autoimmune diseases.
