Purpose: Radiation therapy (RT) plays a key role in the management of esophageal cancer (EC). However, toxicities caused by proximity of organs at risk (OAR) and daily target coverage caused by interfractional anatomic changes are of concern. Daily online adaptive RT (oART) addresses these concerns and has the potential to increase OAR sparing and improve target coverage.

Purpose: To analyze the current practice of regional hyperthermia (RHT) for soft tissue sarcoma (STS) at 12 European centers to provide an overview, find consensuses and identify controversies necessary for future guidelines and clinical trials.

Methods: In this cross-sectional survey study, a 27-item questionnaire assessing clinical subjects and procedural details on RHT for STS was distributed to 12 European cancer centers for RHT.

Results: We have identified seven controversies and five consensus points.

Protein biomarkers in nasal secretions can be used as a measure to differentiate between allergies, airway diseases and infections for non-invasive diagnostics. The point-of-care quantification of biomarker levels using flow-based microarray facilitates precise and rapid diagnosis and displays the potential for targeted and effective treatment. For the first time, we developed a flow-based chemiluminescence sandwich microarray immunoassay (CL-SMIA) for the quantification of nasal interferon-beta (IFN-β) on the Microarray Chip Reader-Research (MCR-R).

Predictive synthesis-structure-property relationships are at the core of materials design for novel applications. In this regard, correlations between the compositional stoichiometry variations and functional properties are essential for enhancing the performance of devices based on these materials. In this work, we investigate the effect of stoichiometry variations and defects on the structural and optoelectronic properties of monocrystalline zinc phosphide (ZnP), a promising compound for photovoltaic applications.
