Erythropoietin (EPO)-induced cellular signaling through the EPO receptor (EPOR) is a fundamental pathway for the modulation of cellular behavior and activity. In our previous work, we showed in primary human astrocytes that the multivalent display of EPO on the surface of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) mediates augmented JAK/STAT signaling, a concomitant 1.8-fold increase in the expression of aquaporin-4 (AQPN-4) channel proteins, and a 2-fold increase in the AQPN-4-mediated water transport activity.

Background: Proper anesthesia management is required to maintain immobilization and stable breathing of the patient to improve catheter contact and stability during catheter ablation for PVI. However, it remains unclear whether the depth of neuromuscular blockade affects the results of RFCA under general anesthesia.

Methods: The patients were randomly assigned to either the moderate neuromuscular blockade group (Group M, train-of-four 1 to 2) or the deep neuromuscular blockade group (Group D, posttetanic count 1-2).

Non-destructive color sensors are widely applied for rapid analysis of various biological and healthcare point-of-care applications. However, existing red, green, blue (RGB)-based color sensor systems, relying on the conversion to human-perceptible color spaces like hue, saturation, lightness (HSL), hue, saturation, value (HSV), as well as cyan, magenta, yellow, key (CMYK) and the CIE L*a*b* (CIELAB) exhibit limitations compared to spectroscopic methods. The integration of machine learning (ML) techniques presents an opportunity to enhance data analysis and interpretation, enabling insights discovery, prediction, process automation, and decision-making.

Alexander's law states that spontaneous nystagmus increases when looking in the direction of fast-phase and decreases during gaze in slow-phase direction. Disobedience to Alexander's law is occasionally observed in central nystagmus, but the underlying neural circuit mechanisms are poorly understood. In a retrospective analysis of 2,652 patients with posterior circulations stroke, we found a violation of Alexander's law in one or both directions of lateral gaze in 17 patients with lesions of unilateral lateral medulla affecting the vestibular nucleus.
