Close relationship between cardiovascular diseases and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has attracted attention over the past 15 years as one of the aspects of systemic manifestations of COPD. The high prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in patients with COPD is explained within the concept of low-level persistent systemic inflammation.
