We performed a retrospective study to inform our current practice in anaesthesia procedures for radiotherapy application in children, brachytherapy and intraoperative radiation. Catheters with the double lumen are commonly used in order to obtain the temporary access to circulation enabling hemodialysis in patients with renal failure. The placement of catheter in the central vein is not entirely safe procedure. Instead it involves the number of complications connected with both the insertion of catheter and leaving it in the vessel for a longer time.

17-year-old female patient with myasthenia gravis was admitted to Thoracic Surgery Unit Silesian Medical Academy for thoracoscopic thymectomy. The stress hormones plasma concentration after intravenous anesthetics (thiopentone, propofol, midazolam) administration in patients who underwent non-toxic struma operation was estimated. The goal of the study was to answer what stage of the general anesthesia and the surgery is the most dangerous for the cardiovascular system in term of stress hormones concentration and which of induction anesthetics used significantly alleviates undesirable reactions to surgical trauma and general anesthesia. 45 women aged 43 +/- 11, who underwent non-toxic struma operation and 16 women who underwent biliary gall-stones operation served as the 'study group and controls', respectively.

The preliminary results of the nitrous oxide application during children anesthesia with secretory otitis media was presented. The different otological operations in which nitrous oxide is contraindicated were mentioned. The nitrous oxide influence on the middle ear pressure increase was emphasized.
