Combining service design and discrete choice experiments for intervention design: An application to weather index insurance.

In this paper we provide a detailed description of the methodological steps involved in conducting a Service Design study in combination with Discrete Choice Experiments (DCEs). It complements the conceptual and epistemological argument developed for this methodological combination in Osborne et al. (2021, World Development, in review WD-19535).

Patients'and doctors' views of using the schedule for individual quality of life in clinical practice.

This study explored patients' and oncologists' perceptions of using a computer-administered, individualized quality-of-life (QOL) instrument to support an oncologic consultation. Twenty patients with gastrointestinal cancer (50% female; mean age 60 years) at two hospitals in Sweden completed the Schedule for the Evaluation of Individual Quality of Life-Direct Weight (SEIQoL-DW) and the Disease-Related (DR) SEIQoL-DW and brought the results to the consultation. Afterwards, interviews were conducted with all patients and six of eight doctors.

Comparison of BMI and body fat determinations in rural Alaska women: results of the WIC Healthy Mom Survey, Summer 2001.

Objectives: Evaluate two field methods to assess body composition of rural Alaska women. Excess body fat has been correlated with chronic diseases.

Methods: This exploratory study used an orally administered survey of a self-selected sample from five rural Alaskan villages.

Characterization of three separated exons in the HLA class II DR region of the human major histocompatibility complex.

The human major histocompatibility complex, HLA, is a highly polymorphic gene region which includes the DRA and DRB genes. The number of DRB genes differs between haplotypes. The DR4 haplotype seems to be one of the most complex with five DRB loci, DRB1, DRB4, DRB7, DRB8, and DRB9, in addition to the single DRA locus.

Fatty acid activation of the peroxisome proliferator activated receptor, a member of the nuclear receptor gene superfamily.

The peroxisome proliferator activated receptor is a member of the steroid receptor gene superfamily, sharing amino acid sequence homology with other receptors and also showing similarities at the level of gene structure. This receptor is activated both by xenobiotic compounds that induce peroxisome proliferation and by fatty acids at physiological concentrations. Upon activation the receptor mediates transcription of responsive genes through binding to peroxisome proliferator response elements.
