Background: Studies on individuals with intellectual disabilities (IDs) indicate that primary care staff are potential attachment figures. Therefore, the ability to interpret and respond to attachment behaviours with sensitivity is crucial for professionals working with adults with IDs. However, little is known regarding representations and understanding of these attachment behaviours among professionals.

Brain Computer Interfaces (BCIs) consist of an interaction between humans and computers with a specific mean of communication, such as voice, gestures, or even brain signals that are usually recorded by an Electroencephalogram (EEG). To ensure an optimal interaction, the BCI algorithm typically involves the classification of the input signals into predefined task-specific categories. However, a recurrent problem is that the classifier can easily be biased by uncontrolled experimental conditions, namely covariates, that are unbalanced across the categories.

Article Synopsis
  • Pediatric social anxiety in children is linked to attentional biases (AB) towards social threats, assessed through response times and EEG measures in a visual task.
  • The study compared high socially anxious children (HSA) with healthy controls, finding no behavioral differences but significant findings in EEG data, such as greater P2 amplitudes in HSA for disgust-related stimuli.
  • These results suggest that HSA children have a stronger focus on threatening faces, requiring more effort to shift their attention away from these cues compared to their peers.

Embodied approach postulates that knowledge and conceptual representations are grounded in action and perception. In order to investigate the involvement of sensorimotor information in conceptual and cognitive processing, researchers have collected various norms in young adults. For instance, the perceptual strength (PS) assesses perceptual experience (i.
