Introduction: Older patients with cancer (65 years and older) are a growing population with unique nutrition-and treatment-related issues that accelerate aging. Nutrition interventions attenuate nutritional decline, muscle loss, and risk of malnutrition and sarcopenia in patients with cancer, however the evidence for older patients with cancer is limited. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the efficacy of nutrition interventions on nutritional status, body weight/composition and clinical outcomes in older patients with cancer and to identify future research priority areas.

Purpose: Comprehensive survivorship care involves cancer surveillance, management of post-treatment effects, health promotion and coordination between care sectors. This study aimed to understand current survivorship practices, build awareness and support improved survivorship care in Victoria, Australia.

Methods: This project had three components: (1) a survey of 20 Victorian clinical sites, assessing elements described in the Victorian Quality Cancer Survivorship Framework; (2) educational webinars for oncology health professionals, to increase survivorship knowledge and awareness; (3) implementation of targeted survivorship care quality initiatives in a sample of health services.

Bats are known to host zoonotic viruses, including henipaviruses that cause high fatality rates in humans (Nipah virus and Hendra virus). However, the determinants of zoonotic spillover are generally unknown, as the ecological and demographic drivers of viral circulation in bats are difficult to ascertain without longitudinal data. Here we analyse serological data collected from African straw-coloured fruit bats () in Ghana over the course of 2 years and across four sites, comprising three wild roosts and one captive colony.

Accumulating data suggest that some bat species host emerging viruses that are highly pathogenic in humans and agricultural animals. Laboratory-based studies have highlighted important adaptations in bat immune systems that allow them to better tolerate viral infections compared to humans. Simultaneously, ecological studies have discovered critical extrinsic factors, such as nutritional stress, that correlate with virus shedding in wild-caught bats.

Serological surveillance in animal and human hosts can be a cost-effective strategy for orthoebolavirus detection, but is challenged by accurate estimates of seroprevalence, potential pauci-symptomatic disease presentation, and antigenic cross-reactivity. Here, we describe the use of an envelope glycoprotein (GP)-based multiplex microsphere immunoassay, consisting of nine filovirus GP antigens for the detection of anti-Ebola virus (EBOV) antibodies in a well-characterized cohort of Guinean Ebola virus disease (EVD) survivors and contacts from the 2013 - 2016 West African EVD outbreak. We examined sensitivity and specificity for the detection of anti-EBOV antibodies by GP expressed as recombinant trimeric ectodomains, yielding an assay performance of 95.
