Non-albicans Candida prosthetic joint infection (PJI) is extremely rare. A case of a Candida glabrata knee PJI is a 68-year-old splenectomised female smoker, suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and alcoholism is reported. The patient presented with a peri-prosthetic fracture, 15 years after total knee replacement surgery.

Background: The location of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) outside of the gastrointestinal system is a rare event.

Case Presentation: A 56-year old woman presented with a GIST of the pelvis was misdiagnosed and treated as a uterine leiomyosarcoma. The diagnosis was made after the CD117 (KIT) positivity in the biopsy of the excised bowel mass four years from the first presentation.

The authors report the case of a young patient in which, during removal of a Seidel nail four years after healing of a mid shaft fracture of the humerus, bone formation into the central canal of the nail through the peripheral slots, prevented the three spread distal fins of the nail to close. The nail could only be extracted by forceful use of the extracting instrument, fortunately without complication.
