Article Synopsis
  • Cancer treatments can cause harmful effects on blood circulation, but laser therapy might help restore balance in patients.
  • This study compared two groups of mastectomized patients taking hormonal blockers: one group received intravascular laser therapy while the other received a placebo, and biomarkers were measured over four months.
  • Results showed a significant reduction in homocysteine levels in the laser-treated group, suggesting this therapy could benefit cardiovascular health in patients receiving cancer treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • Creatine supplementation was studied in twelve strength-trained men to assess its impact on maximal strength and strength endurance.
  • After five days of supplementation, the creatine group showed significant improvements in repetitions performed and total work done during strength tests, but no changes were observed in maximal strength or other measured parameters like blood lactate and fatigue.
  • Overall, while creatine enhanced performance in endurance aspects of strength training, it did not significantly increase maximal strength.

To assess the impact of intravascular laser irradiation of blood (ILIB) on the primitive carotid artery (PCA) hemodynamic variables, specifically blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR), in mastectomized patients undergoing hormone blocker treatments. This study is a controlled, experimental, and randomized clinical trial. Patients were allocated into two groups: the experimental group (G1)-patients who received ILIB therapy using a 660 nm laser targeted at the PCA, and the control group (G2)-patients who did not receive ILIB therapy.

Oncological disease in the palliative stage is a huge challenge for patients and their family caregivers (FCs) due to the fact that it confronts them with death, as well as physical, psychological, and existential suffering. Meaning of Life Therapy (MLT) is a brief structured psycho-existential intervention aiming to help patients in a meaning-making life review process, promoting end-of-life adaptation. The Life Letter (LL) resulting from MLT is an element that facilitates communication between the patient and their caregivers.
