The authors have studied the LDH isoenzymes distribution in the human Achilles tendons. Connection between the age, sex, and enzyme activity were not found. In the Achilles tendon were found strong activity of isoenzymes IV and V (M-type), and controversy them moderate activity of isoenzymes I and II (H-type).

In the muscles of the hypoxic and hypokinetic animals, serious degenerative changes were found and the fibre type ratio was alterated. The malate dehydrogenase activity was decreased, and both LDH and MDH isoenzymes pattern were alterated.

The results indicate that the capillary density has been greatly decreased by the tenotomy. The recapillarization and the time of restitution of the crural muscle are influenced by the interval between tenotomy and tendon suture.
