Challenges and strategies: treating spontaneous pneumothorax in massive pulmonary langerhans cell histiocytosis in children.

Objective: The objective of this study was to report two cases of successive multiple spontaneous bilateral pneumothorax in children with massive lung involvement due to Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH), emphasizing the possibility of this differential diagnosis for the general pediatrician. Additionally, published cases describing pediatric patients with pulmonary manifestations of LCH were reviewed in the literature.

Pediatric Brain Injuries are Associated With Intimate Partner Violence-Related Brain Injuries Among Women in Adulthood.

Objective: Prior studies have reported associations between childhood physical abuse and intimate partner violence (IPV). However, there has been limited literature examining the relationship between pediatric brain injuries and IPV-related brain injuries later in life. We examined the association between childhood brain injuries and brain injuries sustained from IPV in adulthood.

On the design and fabrication of nanoliter-volume hanging drop networks.

Hanging drop cultures provide a favorable environment for the gentle, gel-free formation of highly uniform three-dimensional cell cultures often used in drug screening applications. Initial cell numbers can be limited, as with primary cells provided by minimally invasive biopsies. Therefore, it can be beneficial to divide cells into miniaturized arrays of hanging drops to supply a larger number of samples.

Identifying prognostic hub genes and key pathways in pediatric adrenocortical tumors through RNA sequencing and Co-expression analysis.

Pediatric adrenocortical tumors (ACTs), rare conditions with uncertain prognoses, have high incidence in southern and southeastern Brazil. Pediatric ACTs are highly heterogeneous, so establishing prognostic markers for these tumors is challenging. We have conducted transcriptomic analysis on 14 pediatric ACT samples and compared cases with favorable and unfavorable clinical outcomes to identify prognostically significant genes.
