IQSEC2 mutations are associated with IQSEC2-related intellectual disability (ID). Phenotypic spectrum has been better defined in the last few years by the increasing number of reported cases although the genotype-phenotype relationship for IQSEC2 remains overall complex. As for IQSEC2-related ID a wide phenotypic diversity has been described in Rett syndrome (RTT).

Novel biomarkers are urgent, especially for improving early diagnosis as well as for discriminating between benign and malignant disease.
Patients And Methods: In the present study, we used a proteomic approach based on surface-enhanced laser desorption/ionization-time of flight-mass spectrometry screening with the aim of identifying differentially expressed 2-30 kDa proteins in plasma of patients with malignant (65 cases) and benign (88 cases) breast lesions with respect to 121 healthy controls.
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is implicated in tumor development and is highly expressed in many human tumors. EGFR overexpression has been observed in both premalignant lesions and in malignant lung tumors, as well as in 40-80% of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). EGFR is a 170-kDa transmembrane glycoprotein with an extracellular ligand-binding domain and a cytoplasmic domain with intrinsic tyrosine kinase activity.

These tumors are highly resistant to conventional chemotherapy and only the introduction of imatinib mesylate has improved the prognosis of patients. However, Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors are inappropriate for assessing tumor response, and the histological/pathological response to imatinib is variable, heterogeneous, and does not associate with clinical response.

Design And Methods: We generated SELDI-TOF (Surface Enhanced Laser Desorption Ionization-Time of Flight) spectra in sera of 11 advanced NSCLC treated with Gefitinib. We detected the clusters with m/z 5843, 11445, 11529, 11685, 11759 and 11903 which were previously reported to be potential predictors of response to Gefitinib treatment.
