Recent advances in cancer immunotherapy have great promise for the treatment of solid tumors. One of the key limiting factors that hamper the decoding of physiological responses to these therapies is the inability to distinguish between specific and nonspecific responses. The identification of tumor-specific lymphocytes is also the most challenging step in cancer cell therapies such as adoptive cell transfer and T cell receptor (TCR) cloning.

Collagen is the major component of the extracellular matrix in mammals and its characteristics provide important information about the state of connective tissue. There are only few methods of label-free visualization of collagen fibers; the most frequently used is the second harmonic generation (SHG) microscopy. SHG microscopy is a non-invasive technique for the assessment of the abundance and structure of fibrillar collagen with a high resolution and specificity.

The local laser hyperthermia of an experimental tumor RShM-5 of mice with the use of golden plasmin resonance nanoparticles has been carried out. The accumulation of particles in the tumor was controlled by the in vivo noninvasive method of optical coherent tomography. Using this method, the time of the maximum content of nanoparticles in the tumor was determined to be 5 h after the intravenous administration during which the laser hyperthermia was performed.

The tetraphenyltetracyanoporphyrazine complex of ytterbium has been studied as a potential photosensitizer for fluorescence diagnostics and photodynamic therapy (PDT) of cancer. It has been shown that the new compound has an intensive absorption and fluorescence in the "tissue optical window". In particular, the absorption maximum of the complex is at the wavelength of 590 nm, and the fluorescence emission maximum is at 640 nm.

The authors present an analysis of possibilities of optical coherence tomography in preoperative determination of the proximal interface of the tumor. Under investigation there were 24 patients (14 of them with squamous cell carcinoma and 10 with adenocarcinoma), with localization of the process not more than 5 cm the from z-line.
