Roles of Necroptosis, Apoptosis, and Inflammation in Colorectal Carcinogenesis: A Longitudinal Human Study.

Necroptosis triggers an inflammatory cascade associated with antimicrobial defense. No prospective human study has yet explored the role of necroptosis in colorectal cancer (CRC) development. We conducted quantitative analysis of biomarkers for necroptosis (transient receptor potential melastatin 7 (TRPM7) and phosphorylated mixed lineage kinase-like protein (pMLKL)), inflammation (cyclooxygenase-2, COX-2), apoptosis (BAX and TUNEL), and cell proliferation (Ki67).

Safety and psychological impact of sailing adventure therapy among Veterans with substance use disorders.

Objectives: Many Veterans suffer from substance use disorders (SUDs). Treatment challenges include poor treatment engagement and high relapse rates. Complementary interventions have the potential to enhance both.

[Sensitivity of microbial associations of periodontal lesions to antibacterial agents].

Unlabelled: The aim of the study was the development of approaches to improve the effectiveness of antibiotic therapy in dental practice on the basis of determining the sensitivity of pathogenic microorganisms to antibiotics of different groups.

Material And Methods: The study included determination of the sensitivity of the microbial complexes from wound exudate of periodontal pocket and apical abscess to macrolides, quinolones, penicillins, lincosamides and 5-nitroimidazole. A survey of dentists and dental clinics patients to identify the cause and frequency of use of antibiotics and to identify possible adverse reactions was also conducted.

Commissioning of the accelerator-recuperator for the FEL at the Siberian Center for Photochemical Research.

A 100 MeV eight-turn accelerator-recuperator intended to drive a high-power infrared free-electron laser (FEL) is currently under construction in Novosibirsk. The first stage of the machine includes a one-turn accelerator-recuperator that contains a full-scale RF system. It was commissioned successfully in June 2002.

[Pulmonary hypertension and myocardial contraction in disseminated types of pulmonary tuberculosis].

To elucidate the influence of hemodynamic factors on the development of right ventricular failure, hemodynamic parameters of the lesser and greater circulations and those characterizing myocardial contractility were studied in 36 patients. Despite profuse lung damage, pulmonary failure, and marked external respiration dysfunction that accompanied disseminated pulmonary tuberculosis, pulmonary hypertension was moderate and failed to be followed by hemodynamic overload, right cardiac hypertrophy and dilatation. Significant reductions in myocardial contractility both of the right and left cavities with a rise in the intensity of an inflammatory process suggest the leading role of a toxic and infectious agent in myocardial damage.
