Aim: To study prevalence of gastrointestinal symptoms (GIS) including gall-bladder dysfunction (GBD) in coronary patients after acute coronary event (ACE) and effects of early physical exercise (PE) of moderate intensity in coronary patients with GBD on efficacy of outpatient rehabilitation.

Material And Methods: A two-stage trial was conducted. Stage 1: 237 coronary patients responded to questionnaire detecting incidence of GIS including GBD 8 weeks after ACE.

The objective of the present study was to evaluate clinical and cost effectiveness of rehabilitation programs including long-term physical training of moderate intensity intended for the management of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) who had undergone acute coronary events; the programs were adapted to the treatment under conditions of spa resorts, dispensaries, and outpatient clinics. It was shown that rehabilitation of patients presenting with CDH with the use of moderately intensive physical exercises during a long period enhances the effectiveness of application of the available funds due to improved clinical course of coronary heart disease, tolerance of physical load, and quality of life.

The photophysical and electrochemical properties of a platinum(II) diimine complex bearing the bidentate diacetylide ligand tolan-2,2'-diacetylide (tda), Pt(dbbpy)(tda) [dbbpy = 4,4'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bipyridine] (1), are compared with two reference compounds, Pt(dbbpy)(C[triple bond]CPh)(2) (2) and Pt(dppp)tda [dppp = 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane] (3), respectively. The X-ray crystal structure of 1 is reported, which illustrates the nearly perfect square planarity exhibited by this metallacycle. Chromophore 2 possesses low-lying charge-transfer excited states analogous to 1, whereas structure 3 lacks such excited states but features a low-lying platinum-perturbed tda intraligand triplet manifold.

A comprehensive photophysical study is presented which compares the ground- and excited-state properties of four platinum(II) terpyridyl acetylide compounds of the general formula [Pt(tBu3tpy)(CCR)]+, where tBu3tpy is 4,4',4' '-tri-tert-butyl-2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine and R is an alkyl or aryl group. [Ru(tBu3tpy)3]2+ and the pivotal synthetic precursor [Pt(tBu3tpy)Cl]+ were also investigated in the current work. The latter two complexes possess short excited-state lifetimes and were investigated using ultrafast spectrometry while the other four compounds were evaluated using conventional nanosecond transient-absorption spectroscopy.

Tetramethylpiperidinyloxy (TEMPO, TO*) reacts with ketenes RR(1)C=C=O generated by either Wolff rearrangement or by dehydrochlorination of acyl chlorides to give products resulting from addition of one TEMPO radical to the carbonyl carbon and a second to the resulting radical. Reactions of phenylvinylketenes 4b and 4f, phenylalkynylketene 4c, and the dienylketene AcOCMe=CHCH=CHCMe=C=O (11) occur with allylic or propargylic rearrangement. Even quite reactive ketenes were generated as rather long-lived species by photochemical Wolff rearrangement in isooctane solution, characterized by IR and UV, and used for kinetic studies.
