Fine regulation of complex gene loci in higher eukaryotes is realized through the interaction of promoters with enhancers and repressors, which can be located long distance from the promoter regulated. A question arises, what mechanisms determine proper contacts between the regulatory elements over large distances in the genome. It is suggested that the important role in this process is played by a special class of regulatory elements, insulators, which block the interaction of enhancer and promoter, if they are positioned between them.

A study was made of the functional role of silencers in the long-distance interaction between insulators. Transgenic lines containing the Su(Hw) and Zw5 insulators were analyzed. The silencers failed to efficiently suppress transcription of the yellow gene, nor did they neutralize the effect of the Su(Hw) insulator.

Compositions with hydroxyapatite and immunomodulator in the polyurethane base acquire better adhesiveness and improved strength characteristics as evidenced by physical-and-clinical studies made. Modal operations are developed in test animals on bone defects replacing that carry a high mechanical load.

The antianginal drugs which are used in IHD treatment differ in their effect on the blood lipid composition and their peroxidation. beta-Adrenoblocking agents may cause proatherogenic disorders of the blood lipid graph, this increases the risk of IHD advancement.
