From land to water: "Sunken" T-maze for associated learning in cichlid fish.

The study introduced and evaluated learning paradigms for Maylandia callainos cichlids using a modified version of the rodent T-maze, filled with tank water (the "sunken" modification). Both male and female fish underwent training in two distinct conditioning paradigms. Firstly, simple operant conditioning involved placing a food reward in either the right or left compartment.

Live vs video interaction: sensorimotor and visual cortical oscillations during action observation.

Increasingly, in the field of communication, education, and business, people are switching to video interaction, and interlocutors frequently complain that the perception of nonverbal information and concentration suffer. We investigated this issue by analyzing electroencephalogram (EEG) oscillations of the sensorimotor (mu rhythm) and visual (alpha rhythm) cortex of the brain in an experiment with action observation live and on video. The mu rhythm reflects the activity of the mirror neuron system, and the occipital alpha rhythm shows the level of visual attention.

Synthesis, modification and biological activity of 2,3-indoles of Glycyrrhetinic acid.

The synthesis of 2,3-indoles of Glycyrrhetinic acid (GLA) and its methyl ester was carried out by the Fischer reaction. Reductive transformations of GLA methyl ester 2,3-indole were carried out to obtain 11-deoxo- and 9,12-diene analogs. N-methylation of 2,3-indole gave N-methyl-indole-11-oxo-18β-olean-12-en-30-oic acid.

[Structural brain changes in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy and comorbid depression].

Objective: To assess the morphological features of the brain structures in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy and comorbid depression.

Material And Methods: From 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2020, we studied 80 patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (aged 18-60 years, 38 of whom had comorbid depression) and 48 healthy subjects of comparable age. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain was performed using the epilepsy protocol in a scanner with a magnetic field strength of 1.

Breast Malignancies After Mastectomy With Autologous or Implant Reconstruction.

There are multiple indications for mastectomy for breast cancer, including extent of tumor, inability to achieve negative margins after re-excision, patient preference, or prevention in women with a high lifetime risk of breast cancer. Multiple types of autologous or implant reconstruction options are available for cosmesis. Although rare, breast cancers after mastectomy can occur, and it is important for both surgeons and radiologists to be aware of the associated risk factors, common locations, and classic imaging features of these malignancies.
