Menopausal hormone therapy and the risk of systemic lupus erythematosus and systemic sclerosis: a population-based nested case-control study.

Objectives: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and systemic sclerosis (SSc) are more common in women, partly due to differences in female sex hormones. Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) is widely used to alleviate climacteric symptoms. Here, the relationship between MHT and SLE/SSc was investigated in a nested case-control study.

Association between maternal systemic lupus erythematosus and infant infection: a population-based cohort study in Sweden.

Objectives: The objectives of the study are to investigate infection risk in offspring born to women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) compared with offspring born to women without SLE and examine the mediating role of preterm birth.

Design: This is a register-based cohort study.

Setting: Liveborn singletons born in Sweden, 2006-2021, were included in the study.

Background: Sarcoidosis is an immune-mediated inflammatory disease whose natural development is not well understood. We aimed to determine if inflammatory plasma protein levels are elevated before sarcoidosis diagnosis compared to controls. Furthermore, we investigated which proteins are increased and how long before diagnosis they are increased.
