This study was the first to compare the neuroprotective activity of Cerebrolysin®, Actovegin® and Cortexin® in rodent models of acute and chronic brain ischemia. The neuroprotective action was evaluated in animals with acute (middle cerebral artery occlusion) or chronic (common carotid artery stenosis) brain ischemia models in male rats. Cortexin® (1 or 3 mg/kg/day), Cerebrolysin® (538 or 1614 mg/kg/day) and Actovegin® (200 mg/kg/day) were administered for 10 days.

The influence ofplatelet-enriched plasma (PEP) ofpain intensity was estimated using a visual-analogous scale and the Wormac questionnaire in patients with knee osteoarthrosis (KOA). Beneficial effect on all variables studied was documented within I month after the onset of therapy. It was totally absent after 3 months in severe KOA but was apparent in typical KOA.

Models for relationship between sampling effort and estimates of species number and other characteristics of species diversity are considered and evaluated. In the analysis, different randomization algorithms and other statistical methods of monitoring data processing are used including jackknife and bootstrap procedures, algorithms ICE and Chao2, Colwell-Mao interpolation model, Mikhaelis-Menten curves, and others. A comparative analysis of overall species richness in macrozoobenthic communities using streams of the Lower Volga basin as a case study is performed with the aid of different extrapolation models, and the resulting estimates are discussed.
