Article Synopsis
  • Astrocytoma is the most prevalent brain tumor in adults, with glioblastoma being the most lethal form, and current treatment advancements have not significantly improved survival rates.
  • Genetic biomarkers like microRNAs, circulating tumor DNA, and long noncoding RNA show promise for diagnosing and treating astrocytoma but face challenges in clinical application.
  • The review explores liquid biopsies as innovative tools for managing astrocytoma, highlighting the necessity for standardized protocols and further research to enhance their clinical effectiveness.

Ring-fused azacyclic compounds are important building units in the synthesis of biorelevant natural products, pharmaceutical agents, and molecular materials. Herein, we present a new approach to these condensed azacycles by a biomimetic cascade cyclization of arylalkenyl dioxazolones. This cascade reaction was found to proceed with excellent stereoselectivity and a high functional group tolerance.

Purpose: Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and deadliest brain tumor with unrelenting and rapid disease progression. The standard of care for GBM is surgical excision followed by radiation with concurrent and adjuvant temozolomide-centered chemotherapy (TMZ). Treatment failure and resistance is the rule and despite advances in imaging technology, early detection of treatment failure or impending resistance remains a challenge.

We report 2 cases of Myocardial Bridge (MB). MB, even though a very frequent anomaly (found out in 85% of autopsies), often is asymptomatic. It is hard to diagnose in patients affected by coronary artery disease, seldomly found out on selective coronary angiograms (in 16-20% of chest pain cases).
