(Bate, 1868) is a large and cosmopolitan crustacean genus of high economic importance worldwide. We investigated the morphological and molecular identification of freshwater prawns of the genus in South, South West, and Littoral regions of Cameroon. A total of 1,566 specimens were examined morphologically using a key described by Konan (Diversité morphologique et génétique des crevettes des genres Atya Leach, 1816 et Macrobrachium Bate, 1868 de Côte d'Ivoire, 2009, Université d'Abobo Adjamé, Côte d'Ivoire), leading to the identification of seven species of : (Herklots, 1857); (Herklots, 1851); (De Man, 1912); (Lenz, 1910); (Roux, 1935); (Holthuis, 1949); and an undescribed species .

Introduction: Chronic Periodontitis (CP) is an inflammatory disease of bacterial origin that results in alveolar bone destruction. Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), one of the main periopathogens, initiates an inflammatory cascade by host immune cells thereby increasing recruitment and activity of osteoclasts, the bone resorbing cells, through enhanced production of the crucial osteoclastogenic factor, RANK-L. Antibodies directed against some cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α) failed to exhibit convincing therapeutic effect in CP.

The purpose was to determine whether implementation of standards for peripheral nerve monitoring could decrease the incidence of neuromuscular dysfunction related to the administration of paralytic agents. Over a 2-year period, consecutive patients admitted to a surgical intensive care unit who received continuously-infused or >6 daily doses of neuromuscular blocking agents were subjected to train-of-four (TOF) monitoring of the adductor pollicis. Therapy was titrated to the maintenance of one to two twitches at all times.

Septic shock is characterized as a distributive form of circulatory failure. We examined the relationship of changes in forearm arterial, venous, and microvascular tone to the severity of sepsis. The study population consisted of ten control patients, 15 patients with sepsis, and eight patients with sepsis and shock.
