After kidney transplantation, conversion to belatacept is a promising alternative in patients with poor graft function or intolerance to calcineurin inhibitors. The risk of acute rejection has not been well described under these conditions. Here we present a retrospective multicenter study investigating the occurrence of acute rejection after conversion in 901 patients (2011-2021).

Insights from the BKEVER Trial comparing everolimus versus mycophenolate mofetil for BK Polyomavirus infection in kidney transplant recipients.

The MTOR inhibitors have demonstrated antiviral properties, and prior non-randomized studies have suggested they may have a suppressive effect on BKPyV replication. Here, in this randomized, multicenter, controlled trial (BKEVER study), we sought to evaluate the impact of everolimus (EVR) in facilitating the clearance of BKPyV compared to simply reducing immunosuppression among kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). All together, 130 KTRs presenting with BKPyV DNAemia were randomized 1:1 into two groups.

Epstein-Barr Virus-Associated Smooth Muscle Tumor After Kidney Transplantation: A French Multicenter Retrospective Study.

Background: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a herpesvirus linked to nine different human tumors and lymphoproliferative disorders. Immunosuppression promotes EBV-driven malignancies. The most frequent EBV-induced malignancies are lymphomas and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Complement Terminal Pathway Activation and Intrarenal Immune Response in C3 Glomerulopathy.

Key Points: We evidenced terminal pathway activation (C5b-9 deposits) in most of the glomeruli on kidney biopsy of C3 glomerulopathy. The amount of C5b-9 deposits correlated with disease prognosis in C3 glomerulopathy. Increased terminal pathway activation was found predominantly in a subgroup exhibiting an immuno-fibroblastic signature.

Evolution of therapeutic management of patients with ANCA associated vasculitis in France after licensing Rituximab use.

Introduction: In 2013, rituximab was approved in France for the treatment of ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV). The aim of the study was to compare the treatment and health events of adult incident patients with granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA), included before rituximab approval (over 2010-2012, Group 1) and those included after rituximab approval (over 2014-2017, Group 2).

Method: Data were extracted from the French National Health Insurance database (SNDS) including outpatient health care consumption and hospital discharge forms.
