: The beneficial effects of the flavonoid chrysin can be reduced by its poor oral bioavailability. It has been shown that chrysin-8-C-glucoside () has a better absorption capability. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity of this glucoside, as well as the respective hexa-acetate derivative and the hexa-ethyl carbonate derivative since the inclusion of moieties in bioactive molecules may increase or modify their biological effects.

We previously demonstrated the intestinal anti-inflammatory effect of the total ethereal extract from the Physalis peruviana (Cape gooseberry) calyces in TNBS-induced colitis. This work investigates the therapeutic potential of Peruviose A and B, two sucrose esters that constitute the major metabolites of its calyces.

There is considerable interest in identifying new natural ingredients with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties to serve as adjuvants in sunscreens. The flavonoid morin () can undergo structural modifications to enhance its biological properties.

The search for antioxidants with the ability for scavenging free radicals from the body cells that reduce oxidative damage is essential to prevent and treat these pathologies. Haloarchaea are extremely halophilic microorganisms that inhabit hypersaline environments, such as saltworks or salt lakes, where they have to tolerate high salinity, and elevated ultraviolet (UV) and infrared radiations.
