Goals Of The Work: Anaemia is very frequently diagnosed among cancer patients. Use of erythropoietins has proved to be effective in reducing the need of transfusions and enhancing patients' quality of life, but may also have detrimental effects in treating nonanemic asymptomatic patients. We assessed the frequency of anaemia and the frequency with which it was diagnosed and treated in different types of solid tumours treated at outpatient chemotherapy policlinics.

Objectives: To test the validity and feasibility of the generic 15D health related quality of life (HRQoL) instrument in Parkinson's disease (PD) and compare parkinsonian patients with the general population. Much effort has gone into developing disease specific HRQoL measures for PD, but only generic measures allow comparisons with the general population. New HRQoL tools are needed for PD because earlier ones have low feasibility in elderly patients.

The objective was to assess uncertainty in a cost-utility analysis of adjunct entacapone treatment with levodopa among Parkinson's disease patients by probabilistic sensitivity analysis using second-order simulation methods. The cost-effectiveness of two treatment alternatives of Parkinson's disease - levodopa with or without entacapone - was compared in a cost-utility analysis employing a Markov model. Monte Carlo simulation was used to quantify the uncertainty due to sampling variation.
