Polish Translation and Validation of the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory and the Tinnitus Functional Index.

The need for validated measures enabling clinicians to classify tinnitus patients according to the severity of tinnitus and screen the progress of therapies in our country led us to translate into Polish and to validate two tinnitus questionnaires, namely the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) and the Tinnitus Functional Index (TFI). The original English versions of the questionnaires were translated into Polish and translated back to English by three independent translators. These versions were then finalized by the authors into a Polish THI (THI-Pl) and a Polish TFI (TFI-Pl).

[Clinical effectiveness of betahistine in monotherapy of vertigo for different etiology].

Vertigo is common symptom in clinical practice and among cerebrovascular and otological diseases. The aim of this clinical study was to evaluate the effect of betahistine dihydrochloride (Betaserc) on patients with long lasted dizziness. Enrolled in the study were 33 parients at the age between 32 and 80 years whom were treated 16 mg doses of betaserc three times daily et the time 12 weeks.

Distortion product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) in tinnitus patients.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of tinnitus (experiment I) and the combined effect of tinnitus and sensorineural hearing loss (experiment II) on the distortion product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) for two age groups of tinnitus patients. Tinnitus patients with normal earing, along with normal-hearing control subjects, participated in experiment I. They were divided into two age groups, below 50 and above 50 years.

[Results of treatment tinnitus patients using TRT in ENT Rehabilition Center in Poznań].

The authors describe results of treatment tinnitus patients using TRT method. Since 4 years over 2000 patients were diagnosed and part of them were treated on basis neurophysiological model. In details the authors inform about method TRT and estimated results of audiological examination and treatment.

[The dynamics of habituation of perception and reaction in tinnitus patients treated with TRT].

In this paper the authors present the dynamics of habituation of reaction and perception in tinnitus patients. All patient with subjective chronic tinnitus were diagnosed and treated using TRT method according to Jastreboff's neurophysiological model. 110 patients was estimated during last 4 years treated in ENT Rehabilitation Center in Poznań.
