Obesity often coexists with thyroid diseases, and the prevalence of these disorders has been on the rise for years. While hypothyroidism can contribute to excess fat tissue, the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and thyroid function hormones is bidirectional. Research confirms that fat tissue reduction can positively impact thyroid function.

Background: The abnormal serum concentration of methylglyoxal (MGO) has been presented as an indicator of chronic complications in diabetes (DM). Because such complications are also found in pre-DM, we decided to assess the concentration of this compound in individuals with pre-DM, without cardio-vascular diseases.

Methods: Frozen samples from individuals newly diagnosed with pre-DM (N = 31) and healthy subjects (N = 11) were prepared and MGO concentration was determined using UHPLC-ESI-QqTOF-MS.

Background And Aim: Physical activity (PA) can modulate the immune response, but its impact on infectious disease severity is unknown. We assess if the PA level impacts the severity of COVID-19.

Methods: Prospective, cohort study for adults hospitalized due to COVID-19, who filled out the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ).
