Acute Myeloid Leukemia: Diagnosis and Management Based on Current Molecular Genetics Approach.

Background & Objective: Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is characterized by the accumulation of ≥20% myeloid premature blast cells in the bone marrow and they are most often found in the peripheral blood. AML is generally classified based on either French-American-British (FAB) or World Health Organization (WHO) systems. For better clinical management, cytogenetic finding in AML is necessary and in patients with normal karyotypes - molecular, epigenetic and proteomic biomarkers are very important in choosing which drugs to prescribe.

Evaluation of Community-based Palliative Care Services: Perspectives from Various Stakeholders.

Background: As a part of Memorandum of Understanding with Tamil Nadu Institute of Palliative Medicine, community-based palliative care services have been initiated 2 years back in our urban field practice areas.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the home care service, a major component of our community-based palliative care, with a view to identify the unmet needs of the services rendered for decision-making about the program.

Materials And Methods: It was a descriptive qualitative design carried out by the authors trained in qualitative research methods.

Background And Objectives: There is a paucity of information available on acute respiratory infection (ARI) among school children in India. This study was aimed to assess the prevalence and certain risk factors associated with ARI among school children.

Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 397 school children age group of 5-14 years in the seven schools of rural Puducherry, India.
