As the concern for Ni contamination in the aquatic environment escalates, efforts for microalgal use in environmental monitoring and bioremediation are increasing. This study aims to evaluate the potential of Chlorella sorokiniana and Chlamydomonas reinhardtii for Ni bioremediation by investigating their physiological stress responses in Ni-contaminated environments. The analysis focuses on how Ni(II) uptake affects cell growth, nutrient metal homeostasis, and lipid unsaturation levels, as these parameters are critical indicators of metabolic stability and resilience essential for effective bioremediation.

Methods: Α national retrospective study of pregnancies in women with IBD between 2010 and 2020 was carried out in 22 IBD reference centers in Greece.
We introduce an analytical methodological framework that links knowledge generation efficiency with economic efficiency and the corresponding environmental impact for 199 European Regions during 2000-2018, using a benchmarking approach and especially a chain network DEA technique. A clear trade-off between knowledge generation efficiency and productive performance emerges. European regions which exhibit high innovation efficiency enjoy higher overall performance compared to their counterparts.

European policies regarding global warming have been outspread the last few decades with many initiatives focusing on industrial production process. In this paper we model eco-efficiency (ECOE) performance under a metafrontier (MF) framework for 14 industries of the manufacturing sector from 27 European countries over the 1995-2011 period. The utilization of NO, SO, CO, CH, NO, CO, NMVOC and NH as undesirable outputs represent the impact of industrial activities on the environment.
