Synchronous Quadruple Primary Neoplasms: Colon Adenocarcinoma, Collision Tumor of Neuroendocrine Tumor and Schwann Cell Hamartoma and Sessile Serrated Adenoma of the Appendix.

Quadruple synchronous primary neoplasms are very rare with only three cases reported in the English-speaking literature to date. Collision tumors are also rare entities, especially of the appendix. We herein report a case of synchronous quadruple primary neoplasm in a 95-year-old female.

Esthesioneuroblastoma with bilateral metastases to the parotid glands.

Background: Esthesioneuroblastoma (ENB) is a rare, poorly characterized, intranasal cancer arising from olfactory neuroepithelium.

Methods: This case report reviews the underlying pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and diagnosis of primary ENB and parotid metastases.

Results: We present the case of a 43-year-old man who was referred to our practice with radiographically and biopsy confirmed ENB.

Inhibition of Mcl-1 promotes senescence in cancer cells: implications for preventing tumor growth and chemotherapy resistance.

Although senescence in oncogenesis has been widely studied, little is known regarding the role of this process in chemotherapy resistance. Thus, from the standpoint of enhancing and improving cancer therapy, a better understanding of the molecular machinery involved in chemotherapy-related senescence is paramount. We show for the first time that Mcl-1, a Bcl-2 family member, plays an important role in preventing chemotherapy-induced senescence (CIS).
