[Changes in the fetoplacental system in threatened abortion].

Comprehensive assessment of the hormonal status of the fetoplacental system in 110 pregnant women, carried out over the course of treatment for threatened abortion, included radioimmunoassays of blood serum estriol, progesterone, and placental lactogen, cardiotocography of the fetus, ultrasonic fetometry and placentography. Trophic, hormonal, and hypoxic disorders of the fetoplacental system were revealed. The therapy resulted in essential improvement of the trophic and hypoxic conditions, though the hormonal function did not normalize as a rule.

Antibiotic resistance of salmonellae in Czechoslovakia -- situation and prospects.

Antibiotic resistance of non-typhoid Salmonellae is in Czechoslovakia continuously monitored by a computer and its transferability is studied, on an all-nation level, within the Federal Plan of Scientific Investigation and Development. Restance and its transferability was surveyed in strains of Salmonella from humans, from farm animals, from the food chain as well as from surface and waste waters. Proportion of antibiotic-resistant Salmonella strains did not, in general, increase during the four-year period of 1973 to 1977.

[Responsibility of technicians in departments of pathology and forensic medicine].

Several cases have been presented to demonstrate that the technicians' work in Departments of Pathology and Forensic Medicine is rather pretentious and responsible. Technicians must always bear in mind that any neglection may have severe consequences, social as well as medical and legal. Therefore technicians are expected to do their work meticulously, being aware of their responsibility.
