Surgical wound analgesia has been analyzed in many studies, but few have focused on its relationship with inflammatory markers. As such, we aimed to determine the influence of analgesic surgical wound infiltration in open colorectal surgery on the seric levels of pro- and anti-inflammatory markers and the associated efficacy in postoperative pain control. Forty patients who underwent open colorectal surgery were prospectively randomized: group 0, epidural analgesia; group 1, intravenous analgesia (control), group 2, preincision and prelaparoraphy infiltration; and, group 3, prelaparoraphy infiltration.

(1) Background: Globally, about 600 million people are afflicted with diabetes, and one of its most prevalent complications is neuropathy, a debilitating condition. At the present time, the exploration of novel therapies for alleviating diabetic-neuropathy-associated pain is genuinely captivating, considering that current therapeutic options are characterized by poor efficacy and significant risk of side effects. In the current research, we evaluated the antihyperalgesic effect the sildenafil (phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor)-metformin (antihyperglycemic agent) combination and its impact on biochemical markers in alloxan-induced diabetic neuropathy in rats.

: The diagnosis of cholesteatoma is usually clinic, and the only efficient treatment is surgical. High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is not considered absolutely necessary for the management of an uncomplicated cholesteatoma, but unsuspected situations from a clinical point of view can be discovered using the scans, warning the surgeon.
