Integration of Copper Toxicity Mechanisms in : Advancing Insights at Environmentally Relevant Concentrations.

This work aimed to characterize the impact of copper (Cu), at environmentally relevant concentrations, using the freshwater microalga . Algae were incubated with 33 or 53 µg/L Cu, in OECD medium, and toxic impacts were evaluated over 72 h, using different cellular and biochemical biomarkers. The exposure to 33 µg/L Cu had an algistatic effect: slowing growth and reducing algal population (53%, at 72 h) without compromising the cell membrane.

Performance and quality of eggs of laying hens fed with Moringa Oleifera leaf flour.

Comparison of the spatial and temporal distribution of cutaneous and mucosal leishmaniasis in the state of Rio de Janeiro between 2001 and 2011.

Objective: To compare the spatio-temporal distribution of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) cases with mucosal leishmaniasis (ML) cases in the state of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) between 2001 and 2011.

Method: The incidence rates (IR) of CL and ML were calculated for the cases notified between 2001-2011 in the Information System of Notifiable Diseases for Rio de Janeiro (RJ, and for the municipalities of Rio de Janeiro and Angra dos Reis, with georeferencing and construction of thematic maps. A negative binomial regression model was used to assess the temporal dependency between CL and ML.

Photobiomodulation With Infrared and Dual-Wavelength Laser Induces Similar Repair and Control of Inflammation After Third Molar Extraction: A Double-Blinded Split-Mouth Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) has been showed to have beneficial effects on the healing and control of inflammation associated with oral surgical wounds. However, different PBMT protocols have been proposed and it is not clear if different protocols impact the hard and soft tissues healing equally.

Purpose: To compare the tissue repair of postextraction alveoli of third molars between treated with dual-wavelength PBMT (red and infrared) or PBMT with infrared laser (IRL) alone.
