Many oil and gas developments will soon be decommissioned and, knowledge on the accumulation of mercury (Hg), throughout offshore infrastructure is limited. Any release of Hg could have a detrimental impact on marine ecosystems. To bridge this knowledge gap, a fractionation approach was taken on steel samples exposed to Hg and HS, separating Hg compounds removed from the surface into polar, non-polar and insoluble fractions.

Water deficit affects the growth as well as physiological and biochemical processes in plants. The aim of this study was to determine differences in physiological and biochemical responses to drought stress in two wheat cultivars-Chinese Spring (CS) and SQ1 (which are parents of a mapping population of doubled haploid lines)-and to relate these responses to final yield and agronomic traits. Drought stress was induced by withholding water for 14 days, after which plants were re-watered and maintained until harvest.

Two types of aluminous paragneiss from the Loosdorf complex (Bohemian Massif, NE Austria) contain coarse-grained granulite assemblages and retrograde reaction textures that are investigated to constrain the post-peak history of the Gföhl unit in the southern Bohemian Massif. Both types have a peak assemblage garnet-biotite-sillimanite-plagioclase-K-feldspar-quartz-granitic melt ± kyanite ± ilmenite ± rutile, recording peak metamorphic conditions of 0.9-1.
