The effect of stuttering on symptoms of depression and social anxiety in adolescents.

Objective: This study aims at examining the relationship between the severity of stuttering, which makes it difficult to speak and communicate, and the symptoms of depressive and social anxiety disorders during adolescence.

Patients And Methods: A total of 65 children between 14 and 18 years old, diagnosed with stuttering, were included in the study, regardless of gender. Stuttering Severity Instrument, Beck Depression Scale, and Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents were administered to all participants.

Assessment of Sonographic Carotid Parameters in Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Comparative Case Control Study.

Objective: To compare carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT), systolic and diastolic diameters (D), intima-media thickness/diameter ratio (IDR) values in children with ASD, and control groups, and to analyze the correlation of these parameters with the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) scores.

Methods: This prospective case-control study included 37 children diagnosed with ASD and 38 individuals without ASD in the control group. Correlation assessments of sonographic measurements with CARS scores in the ASD group were also performed.

Evaluation of symptoms of preopoperative and postoperative psychosomatic screening in children with adenoidectomy and adenotonsillectomy.

Introduction: Adenoidectomy and adenotonsillectomy are very common operations in childhood. It is important to clarify their effects on this age group; in this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of the causative agent on children's mental health by using scales that help to screen for indications of mental disorders in children, who have had adenoidectomy or adenotonsillectomy, both before and after surgery. In this way, we aimed to investigate the effects of this factor on children's mental health.

Association of elevated pre-operative HbA1c and post-operative complications in patients undergoing gynaecological oncology surgery.

HbA1c testing provides average blood glucose control, an elevated result may be associated with adverse post-operative outcomes. Our objective was to evaluate the association between elevated pre-operative HbA1c and post-operative complications in patients undergoing major gynaecological oncology surgery. HbA1c was measured pre-operatively in 364 patients.

2D:4D ratios as an indicator of intrauterine androgen exposure in children who stutter.

Aim: We aimed to explore whether there is a relationship between stuttering and digit ratio (2D:4D), which is thought to be a marker of prenatal testosterone exposure.

Methods: We evaluated a total of 90 children who stutter (CWS; n = 40 mild-to-moderate and n = 50 severe stutters) and 40 healthy peers (CWNS) as controls. We used the Clinical Global Impression-Severity (CGIS) scale to measure the severity of stuttering.
