Denture stomatitis is a common manifestation of oral candidiasis affecting some 65% of denture wearers. This condition is initiated by the adherence of to denture base acrylic resin. Denture adhesives are widely used in dentistry. The growth of Candida albicans on the denture base is common on both jaws, particularly in elderly patients. A strong correlation has been found between the growth of Candida albicans and dentures, potentially leading to denture stomatitis.

In the following case report the authors describe the unusual occurrence of secondary biliary cirrhosis in a young patient, with no prior history of liver disease, who was admitted to the ICU after a severe motor vehicle accident.
