The peculiarities of the functional status of autonomic nervous system and physical efficiency were studied in white inbred rats under dynamics of combined radiation/thermal injury (CR/TI). The CR/TI model was obtained under total X-ray irradiation at dose level of 4.37 Gy and inflicting III degree burn injury making 12% of body surface in 24 rats.

An attempt is made to elaborate biochemical criteria of the depth of ischemia in atherosclerotic lesions of the lower limb arterial channel, based on the degree of manifestation and character of the metabolic changes. The study revealed increased content of toxic metabolites--middle mass molecules (MMM), hydroperoxides, and circulating immune complexes (CIC) in the blood of patients. The content of MMM and hydroperoxides correlated with the degree of limb ischemia.

The study was concerned with the evaluation of effect of the extract of a human fetal organ, the umbilical cord, on development and growth of such transplantable tumors as Ehrlich's ascites tumor, sarcoma 37, sarcoma 180 and Zajdela's hepatoma as well as of dimethylbenzanthracene- and benzo(a)pyrene-induced cancer. In a subgroup of animals who had been vaccinated once or twice prior to inoculation of cells, a significant inhibition of growth of tumors of all the histologies except sarcoma 180 was observed alongside with a decrease in tumor incidence and partial resorption of ascitic fluid. Preliminary vaccination of rats interfered with dimethylbenzanthracene- and benzo(a)pyrene-induced carcinogenesis reducing tumor incidence and assuring longer latent period and slower progression of cancer.

The authors analyse their results of reimplantation of skin after Krasovitov in 34 patients. In 23 cases there were good or satisfactory results and in 10 cases where there were deviations from this technique the results were not satisfactory. The most frequent mistake was leaving of the scalped skin on the "feeding" pedicle.
