Article Synopsis
  • Elevated cortisol levels are linked to a higher risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD), leading to treatments aimed at lowering these hormone levels for prevention or therapy.
  • A comprehensive intervention (CI) over two months, which included cognitive stimulation and lifestyle changes, was tested on AD patients to see if it could lower cortisol levels and improve cognitive health.
  • The intervention showed short-term benefits with reduced cortisol and better cognitive function, but many participants experienced a rebound effect with increased cortisol and cognitive decline after 24 months, highlighting the need for careful treatment planning in AD management.
