Clinical Background: Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), a major public health problem, frequently affect the kidneys. In this chapter, we discuss the NTDs which have been most studied in terms of renal involvement and present a summary of current knowledge regarding kidney disease in all NTDs, through a literature review. Two, atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), are proteins and the third is made up of digitalis-like substances (DLS). The present report concerns the isolation, substantial purification and biologic actions of an entirely different natriuretic hormone (NH) which appears to be steroidal in nature and an isomer of cortisone.
