Background: Cannabis use disorder among young people with a first episode of psychosis contributes to relapse, hospitalization, and impaired functioning. However, few studies have examined what young people with early phase psychosis, particularly those from Black racialized communities, understand or appreciate about this relationship, even though they may be at risk. There are no formally tested knowledge translation strategies that disseminate these research findings for young people with emerging psychosis from Black racialized communities.

The majority of RNA based COVID-19 diagnostics employ enzymatic amplification to achieve high sensitivity, but this relies on arbitrary thresholding, which complicates the comparison of test results and may lead to false outcomes. Here we introduce solid-state nanopore sensing for label-free quantification of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in clinical nasal swab samples. This PCR-free method involves reverse transcribing a target gene on the viral RNA before enzymatically digesting all but the resulting dsDNA.

The feasibility study of utilizing sunflower oil as renewable biomass source to develop highly effective inhibitors for mild steel corrosion (MS) in the 15% HCl medium was done by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), dynamic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (DEIS), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), supported with energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and field-emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) techniques. Moreover, a complementary theoretical investigation was carried out to clarify the inhibition mechanism of inhibitors by density functional theory (DFT), density functional based tight-binding (DFTB), and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation approaches. The obtained results confirm that sunflower-oil-based corrosion inhibitor (SFOCI) has a significant anticorrosion property toward the dissolution of MS in 15% HCl solution in the temperature range 20-80 °C.

Long-term human missions in space, such as the establishment of a human-tended lunar base, require autonomous life support systems. A Lunar Engineered Closed/Controlled EcoSystem (LECCES) can provide autonomy by integrating a human module with support plant and animal modules, and waste treatment subsystems. Integration of physical/chemical (P/C) and biological waste treatment subsystems can lead to viable and operational bioregenerative systems that minimize resupply requirements from Earth.
