In 2019, a pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus began. The fight against COVID-19 required the introduction of a number of restrictive measures, in particular the introduction of quarantine for the population and isolation of the sick, which, along with the direct effect of the virus on the nervous system, led to a significant spread of sleep disorders. In this regard, questions have become relevant about the choice of drugs for the correction of sleep disorders, about which sleeping pills will be safe in conditions of acute illness and during the recovery period after COVID-19.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAerogels have gained significant interest in recent decades because of their unique properties such as high porosity, low density, high surface area, and excellent heat and noise insulation. However, their high cost and low mechanical strength limit their practical application. We developed appropriate conditions to produce aerogels with controlled density, high mechanical strength, and thermal characteristics from bacterial cellulose (BC) synthesized by the strain H-110.

Not only the contributions of individual genes, but also their cumulative effect should be considered in the case of polygenic diseases, which include the majority of human diseases. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a severe autoimmune neurodegenerative disorder of the central nervous system (CNS) and is polygenic in nature.

The study involved 116 patients (68 females and 48 males aged 47-78) with edentulous jaws and side palatal defect of oncological origin. Improved elastic obturator maxilla dentures in patients with palatal defects proved to have better stability and provides better comfort effectively preventing inflammation of prosthetic bed soft tissues.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAim: Association analysis of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) identified multiple sclerosis (MS) risk genetic variants with glatiramer acetate (GA) treatment efficacy.
Patients & Methods: SNPs in 17 GWAS-identified immune response loci were analyzed in 296 Russian MS patients as possible markers of optimal GA treatment response for at least 2 years.
Results: Alleles/genotypes of EOMES, CLEC16A, IL22RA2, PVT1 and HLA-DRB1 were associated by themselves with event-free phenotype during GA treatment for at least 2 years (p = 0.
