Aim: To reveal the differences in neurocognitive development in premature infants and full-term infants in the first year of life.

Material And Methods: The participants were 17 premature infants and 16 sex- and age-matched healthy full-term infants. The gestational age of preterm infants was between 28 and 36 weeks.

Brain damage and neuronal loss caused by traumatic brain injury, ischemic stroke, and symptomatic status epilepticus can lead to severe long-term consequences, such as impairment in learning and memory and cognitive functions, and development of chronic epilepsy. This can be the result of morphologic and functional changes underlying temporal lobe epilepsy. Epilepsy patients have increased risk of status epilepticus.

Aim: To study sexual hormones levels in risk of beginning and development of coronary heart disease (CHD) in young and middle-aged (up to 50 years) men and women.

Material And Methods: Sexual hormones were studied in 105 patients (53 males and 52 females) aged 25-50 years. Of them, 88 suffered from IHD and 17 had CHD risk factors.

Conformational energy calculations were carried out for beta-endorphin. Its spatial structure can be described by nine low-energy conformations. The calculations yielded the values of all dihedral angles of the backbone and side chains of these forms as well as intra- and inter-residue interaction energies.
