Sputum culture reversion in longer treatments with bedaquiline, delamanid, and repurposed drugs for drug-resistant tuberculosis.

Sputum culture reversion after conversion is an indicator of tuberculosis (TB) treatment failure. We analyze data from the endTB multi-country prospective observational cohort (NCT03259269) to estimate the frequency (primary endpoint) among individuals receiving a longer (18-to-20 month) regimen for multidrug- or rifampicin-resistant (MDR/RR) TB who experienced culture conversion. We also conduct Cox proportional hazard regression analyses to identify factors associated with reversion, including comorbidities, previous treatment, cavitary disease at conversion, low body mass index (BMI) at conversion, time to conversion, and number of likely-effective drugs.

Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are a worldwide health problem for women. They cause complications in up to 10% of pregnancies and are associated with increased maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. Traditional blood pressure measurement in clinical practice is the most commonly used procedure for diagnosing and monitoring hypertension treatment, but it is prone to significant inaccuracies caused, on the one hand, by the inherent variability of blood pressure and, on the other, by errors arising from measurement technique and conditions.

Unlabelled: Due to current options of cardiac surgery, operations on the heart of elderly patients have become routine in specialized cardiosurgical centers. The issue of pre- and postoperative anemia of different nature is essential in surgical correction of heart valves and coronary bypass.

Aim: To study indexes of red blood in elderly patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD) and pathology of heart valves before and after surgical correction, including the relationship with position and type of the prosthesis.

Reactivity of alpha rhythms to eyes opening (the Berger effect) during menstrual cycle phases.

The impact of the menstrual cycle on the alpha EEG reactivity to eyes opening (Berger effect) was studied in relation to hormonal and EMG indices. Repeated measurements of salivary progesterone and cortisol, forehead EMG, and EEG alpha-activity indices in 76 healthy women aged 18-27 were obtained in resting eyes closed (1min) and eyes open (30s) conditions. Ten recording sessions occurred, at 2-3day intervals, during 1-2 menstrual cycles.

Training of support afferentation in postmenopausal women.

We have recently shown a diminishing of the Menopause Index in old-aged women who underwent special training directed at the enhancement of support afferentation by increasing the plantar forefoot sensitivity (Bazanova et al., 2015). Based on these results we hypothesized, that purposeful training of support afferentation through stimulation of plantar graviceptors by Aikido practice will decrease excessive postural and psychoemotional tension not only in rest condition, but during cognitive and manual task performance too.
