Completing the Puzzle: Determinants, Comorbidities and Complications for Different Lung Cancer Subtypes: A Pilot Study.

Background: Lung cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality worldwide, with multiple independent risk factors contributing to its development. The objective of this study was represented by the impact of independent risk factors, such as smoking, anemia, cachexia or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) for lung cancer development.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study, and we analyzed a database of 412 patients hospitalized between 1 February and 31 December 2023 in the Pulmonology Department of the Mureș County Clinical Hospital.

Insights into the Overlap of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Sleep Apnea: Experience from the Clinic of Pneumology, Târgu Mureș.

Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has a severe impact on patients' health and can lead to multiple complications.

Material And Methods: We analyzed the co-occurrence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in COPD patients hospitalized in the Pneumology Clinic of Târgu Mureș, Romania.

Results: A total of 150 COPD patients were investigated by clinical examination, STOP-BANG and Epworth questionnaires, ventilatory polygraphy (PG), EKG, cardiac ultrasound, blood lipids, and sugar.

Severe uncontrolled asthma (SUA) affects approximately 5% of asthma patients, leading to frequent exacerbations, reduced lung function, and lower quality of life. Recent biologic therapies target specific inflammatory pathways, offering new options for SUA. : This study aimed to evaluate clinical characteristics, treatment outcomes, and biomarkers in patients with SUA treated with biologics (Omalizumab, Benralizumab, and Dupilumab) at our clinic.

Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte and Platelet-to-Lymphocyte Ratio: Side by Side with Molecular Mutations in Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer-The INOLUNG Study.

Analysis of inflammatory biomarkers, along with the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) or platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), supports the connection between inflammation and carcinogenesis. We conducted a retrospective observational study at the Clinical County Hospital Mureș involving patients with lung cancer. The parameters analyzed included histopathological type (NSCLC: squamous cell carcinoma or adenocarcinoma; SCLC), molecular mutations (EGFR, ALK, PD-L1), parameters from the complete blood count, inflammatory parameters, and associated comorbidities.
