Primary Fibrosarcoma of the Breast: Case Report of a Rare Breast Neoplasm.

Breast fibrosarcoma is an uncommon primary breast neoplasm. We report a case of a 57-year old woman who presented at our facility with a right breast mass having histomorphological and immunohistochemical features consistent with fibrosarcoma. She had simple mastectomy and an uneventful hospital stay.

Drain Site Hernia: A Review of the Incidence and Prevalence.

Background: Surgical drains prevent fluid accumulation such as peritoneal fluid, blood, pus or inflammatory exudates. However, complications may occur. The aim of this study is to review the incidence and prevalence of drain site hernia as a complication of surgical drains.

Challenges in disclosure of adverse events and errors in surgery; perspectives from sub-Saharan Africa.

Surgery in sub-Saharan Africa is widely known to be done against a background of poverty and illiteracy, late presentation with complicated pathologies, and a desperate lack of infrastructure. In addition, patient autonomy and self determination are highly flavored by cultural practices and religious beliefs. Any of these factors can influence the pattern and disclosure of adverse events and errors.

Methods: A total of 1176 oncology patients participated in the study. Majority had breast cancer.

Under representation of women in surgery in Nigeria: by choice or by design?

Background: Female Doctors' lack of interest in surgical careers has raised much concern in recent times. An understanding of the factors responsible for this lack of interest and evolving attitude is needed. The aim of this report was to determine the local factors that may be responsible and the most likely surgical specialty female doctors would prefer.
