Objectives: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by multisystem, including neuropsychiatric, involvement. The nervous system is affected in 20-27 % of patients within approximately two years after diagnosis. This study aimed to examine neurocognitive impairment in childhood-onset SLE (cSLE) patients before the development of any neurological, psychiatric, or cognitive manifestations.

In this study, a graphene oxide combined with poly(2-diethylaminoethyl methacrylate) (GO@PDEAEMA) nanocomposite was synthesized for the separation and enrichment of Cd and Pb from food and water samples using the dispersive micro-solid phase extraction (d-μ-SPE) technique. The GO@PDEAEMA nanocomposite was synthesized using surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP) and characterized using various analytical techniques, such as FTIR, FE-SEM, TGA, BET, and XRD. The optimal experimental conditions were pH 8, 0.

Article Synopsis
  • The study tested the effectiveness of a Turkish version of a virtual pediatric gait examination (v-pGALS) in a large group of children aged 4-18 during May and June 2022.
  • It compared the findings of v-pGALS with traditional hands-on physical exams, finding that v-pGALS had high sensitivity (92.6%) and perfect specificity (100%) for identifying musculoskeletal issues.
  • Parents and patients reported little to no discomfort and found the duration of the v-pGALS examination acceptable, indicating it is a practical tool for assessing children's musculoskeletal problems.

Introduction: The method of encapsulating the drug molecule in a carrier, such as a magnetic nanoparticle, is a promising development that has the potential to deliver the medicine to the site where it is intended to be administered. Morin is a pentahydroxyflavone obtained from the leaves, stems, and fruits of various plantsmainly from the Moraceae family exhibiting diverse pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and free radical scavenging and helps treat diseases such as diabetes, myocardial infarction and cancer.

Methods: In this study, we conducted the synthesis of a nanocomposite with magnetic properties by coating biocompatible activated carbon obtained from okra plant leaves with magnetic nanoparticles.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs), estimating that 2-3% of live births globally are affected, with a high prevalence in consanguineous regions due to the autosomal recessive nature of many IMDs.
  • Utilizing genome sequencing data from over 14,000 Qatari adults, the research analyzed genetic variants linked to 115 treatable IMDs, uncovering 253 significant genetic variations across 69 disorders.
  • The findings indicate that about 8% of unrelated individuals carry pathogenic variants for at least one treatable IMD, highlighting conditions like phenylketonuria with the highest carrier rates, suggesting that such studies could enhance public health initiatives like screening programs.
