The operation of modern free-electron lasers (FELs) necessitates precise knowledge of electron beam properties at the undulator to ensure the level of control required by increasingly demanding experiments. In seeded FELs, where only electrons interacting with the seed laser contribute to the process, it is crucial to determine the local values of these properties. We present a novel method, based on accurate modeling of the FEL process in high-gain harmonic generation, to accurately retrieve the electron beam slice energy spread, current and laser-induced energy modulation.

To investigate the effect of a fermented soy supplement during 18 months in patients under active surveillance (AS) for low-risk and selected favorable intermediate-risk prostate cancer (PCa), with an emphasis on PSA modulation. Low-risk patients with ISUP grade 1, clinical stage cT1 or cT2a, PSA < 10 ng/mL and favorable intermediate-risk patients with ISUP grade 2 (<10% pattern 4), clinical stage T2b-c, PSA 10-20 ng/mL. The primary outcome was PSA response defined as maximum PSA rise less than or equal to 0.

Relativistic electron bunches used to produce synchrotron radiation are systematically subjected to spontaneous appearance of microstructures, when a high number of electrons are used. In storage rings, this usually leads to an intense coherent emission in the terahetz range, with powers that are orders of magnitude higher than standard incoherent emission. However this emission generally displays an erratic behavior, which has strongly limited its domain of application so far.

Background: Chronic giant diaphragmatic hernia is a severe disease with challenging diagnosis and treatment. Given the risk of loss of domain, the use of botulinum toxin A is an option but has been minimally studied in diaphragmatic hernia surgery.

Case Report: We present a case of a giant diaphragmatic hernia in a 66-years-old patient who showed a 12-year history of progressive chronic respiratory insufficiency.
