The aqueous extraction of the sesquiterpene lactone xanthatin from Xanthium spinosum L. favours the conversion of xanthinin (1) to xanthatin (2) via the loss of acetic acid. The cytotoxic (Hep-G2 and L1210 human cell lines) and antiviral activities of isolated xanthatin are established.

We quantified horizontal transport patterns and the net exchange of nutrients between shallow regions and the open sea in the Baltic proper. A coupled biogeochemical-physical circulation model was used for transient simulations 1961-2100. The model was driven by regional downscaling of the IPCC climate change scenario A1B from two global General Circulation Models in combination with two nutrient load scenarios.

Article Synopsis
  • CTHRC1 and NFE2L3 are potential biomarkers for diagnosing colorectal cancer, showing increased mRNA expression in tumorous tissues compared to normal ones.
  • Researchers created and tested various antibodies against these proteins to evaluate their effectiveness in identifying CTHRC1 and NFE2L3 in colorectal cancer cells.
  • Both antibodies displayed high specificity in recognizing their target proteins, leading to successful detection of CTHRC1 and NFE2L3 in cancer cell lines through methods like Western blot and ELISA.
