Circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) are non-coding RNAs secreted into body fluids, and aberrant levels of these miRNAs correlate with diseases of various origins, making them highly potential clinical biomarkers. We investigated the spectrum of circulating miRNAs in the plasma of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) patients to identify miRNAs showing discriminatory levels in the patients with different prognosis. Plasma samples were analyzed with microarrays to define miRNA profiles, and the deregulated miRNAs were further studied using droplet digital PCR.

The aim of our study was to analyze the distribution of HLA-DQB1 in Czech patients with central hypersomnias and differences between diagnostic groups of narcolepsy type 1 (NT1), type 2 (NT2), idiopathic hypersomnia (IH) and no central hypersomnia subjects (no-CH). Statistical analysis of DQB1 genotyping was performed on the cohort of 716 patients (375 men, 341 women) with reported excessive daytime sleepiness. DQB1*06:02 allele was present in 94% of the NT1 patients.

We report on the modification of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) by exposure to the ultraviolet (UV) light of a Xe(2)*-excimer lamp at a wavelength of 172 nm in an ammonia atmosphere. Typical treatment times were up to 30 min. Subsequently, the samples were grafted with the amino acid alanine from an aqueous solution.
